ASSCR Catalyst Prize
Highlighting exceptional contributions in research
The Catalyst Prize recognises an exceptional research team within the Australasian stem cell community that demonstrates outstanding innovation, collaboration and transformative impact. This biennial prize celebrates excellence in stem cell research across both national and international contexts, highlighting contributions that have already advanced or are expected to advance the field over a five-year timeframe.

Key Details for the ASSCR Catalyst Prize
The Catalyst Prize is open to collaborative teams, including early and mid-career researchers, whose work exemplifies scientific excellence and the potential to drive meaningful impact and innovation in stem cell science.
Nominated teams must consist of 3 to 10 members and include at least one PhD student or early career researcher. The nominated team representative must be a current ASSCR member with at least 12 months of membership during the assessment period.
The winning team will receive $5,000 prize money, commemorative plaques for all members, and public recognition through the ASSCR website and social channels. Funds are to be used within 12 months to support the team’s next endeavour, with the representative providing a brief expense report and letter highlighting the impact of the award that will be featured on the ASSCR website.
Applications, limited to five pages, must include an overview of the team’s achievements and/or future vision, highlighting innovation and impact, supported by evidence of their research outputs and contributions.
Applications are due by the 31st of July 2026 and should be submitted to the Chair of Conference and Awards at ASSCRsubmissions@gmail.com. The award will be announced at the ASSCR annual meeting or AGM, and successful teams will be celebrated for their exemplary impact on the stem cell research community.
